Learning Swing dance is fun & social, it keeps you fit and you can come along by yourself or with friends.

ONE DAY INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS

INTRODUCTION TO HOLLYWOOD
An intensive course designed to give you a basic grounding in Hollywood Style. All the basic moves and styling compressed into one day. Ideal for complete beginners or for people who have done other swing styles and want to get to grips with Dean Collins’ styling.
Cost: £30 per person

THE WHIP WORKS
The Whip is the classic Hollywood move but also one of the hardest to master. This intensive one day course starts at first principles and builds to develop and improve your styling, adding on the basic whip variations. Participants must have previous Lindy Hop experience.
Cost: £30 per person

HARLEM STYLE (The Roots of Lindy Hop)
This workshop explores early Lindy Hop from the late 1920's through to the mid '30s. You will gain an understanding of the relationship between Charlston and Lindy and increase your repertoire with a series of authentic moves and combinations. Particular emphasis is on styling and technique which will increase your ability to dance fast Lindy Hop to music of the Jazz Age. Cost: £30 per person

CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD
Classic Hollywood moves & styling including Switches, Quick Stops, Rhythm Turns, Tabby the Cat, Savoy Kicks, Dean Collins’ variations etc etc. Participants must feel comfortable with 6 & 8 count patterns. Cost: £30 per person

BALBOA FOR BEGINNERS
With special guest teachers, Paul Crook & Natasha Hall. Balboa is a dance which originated in Southern California in the 1920s. It is characterised by tight footwork, slides and syncopations, predominently danced in a close hold. It is particularly suited to up-tempo music and has increased in popularity across the world over the last few years. Paul & Natasha appeared in BBC’s Strictly Dance Fever in 2005 and are two of the country’s finest Balboa dancers. Cost: £30 per person

DEAN COLLINS’ SHIM SHAM
3 HOUR WORKSHOP: 7pm - 10pm
This classic jazz/tap line dance was originally choreographed by Leonard Reed & Willie Bryant in 1928.
In the 1940s Dean Collins’ added his own flair, some cool jazz steps and extended the routine to create a dynamic dance which is challenging and fun. The Dean Collins’ Shim Sham also helps dancers to work on footwork variations and rhythmic syncopations which will add to your skills and abilities Lindy Hopping on the dance floor.
Cost: £10. No Partner Required.

  • Specific courses for absolute beginners through to advanced dancers.

HOLLYWOOD SWING 1 (5 week course)
This course is designed to teach all the basic footwork, moves & styling. Emphasis will be on a basic 6 count rhythm and is ideal for complete beginners or as an introduction for those who have danced other swing dance styles.
Cost: £37 per person (Only £30 if repeated)

HOLLYWOOD SWING 2 (5 week course)
This course assumes participants have mastered all the basic 6 count styling and footwork.
The course will concentrate on 8 count figures with particular emphasis on “The Whip” (the classic Hollywood move) and it’s variations. To participate in this course you must have done Hollywood Swing 1, attended one of our “Introduction to Hollywood” workshops or have previous experience in this style.
Cost: £37 per person (Only £30 if repeated)

CHOREOGRAPHY (New 5 week course)
This is a fun course where you will learn a routine over 5 weeks. It's a chance to stretch your dancing and tackle something a little more challenging. Participants should be intermediate dancers and above.
Cost: £37 per person

HOLLYWOOD SWING INT/ADV & HOLLYWOOD STYLING
This course is designed to increase repertoire and add variations in moves and rhythm patterns.
Participants must be competent at all the basic steps and moves especially the whip.
Cost: £37 per person (Only £30 if repeated)

COLLEGIATE SHAG 1 & 2 (5 week course)
Collegiate Shag is a swing dance that was popular in the 1930’s & 40’s. It has a simple 6 count basic and is great for up-tempo music. Level 1 - Absolute Beginners, Level 2 - Intermediate.
Cost: £37 per person (Only £30 if repeated).

Private Lessons

Robert and Claire are happy to give private lessons at their home in North London.
The cost is £40 per hour or £70 for a 2 hour session. If you book and pay for 10 hours of tuition in advance then we are able to offer a discounted rate of £320.
If you wish us to travel to you or we need to hire studio space then there will be an additional cost.
We are also happy to teach aerials and trick steps on a private basis at £120 per hour plus studio space hire.
